Hey bshu, I experienced the same problem few months ago... It seemed that everything was caused by my free XP theme that I've been using. I think the problem is neither Qt nor Meshlab but the patched UXTheme.dll file installed by your desktop enhancer. To put everything working, just switch to a standard but less eye candy win XP theme..
