Hi,
I'd like to know if would be possible to add the idf format support in meshlab...

Intermediate Data Format (IDF) is a format used for mechanical data design and electrical layout...
At the moment kicad suite is able to export pcb body and parts to vrml format.
there is also an option to export pcb body in IDF format, but parts are not exported unless they are modeled in idf themselves (but all the kicad libs are in vrml) ...

It would be nice to have a possibility in meshlab, to import from the all pcb board and parts generated in vrml and export them to idf...
With freecad I can easily manipulate idf files to export to different 3D formats...

at the moment I use meshlab to import from vrml and export in collada format... then I import the .dae file in freecad and with a macro I convert the file to step... but the process is quite heavy (generating 3D shapes from collada takes long times) and the process loses color attributes.

please find attached a vrml demo board (demo.zip body+parts)
and the collada generated from meshlab (demo-brd.dae)

thank you for support
Maurice
