I recently upgraded to Lion on a MBP. I downloaded the current version of MeshLab for Mac. When I moved it to /Applications, there is a slash
through the icon, and trying to execute gives the error message "damaged or incomplete". I can execute from the DMG, in which case
it complains....and then works?

Same problem since upgrading from El Capitan to Sierra 10.12.4. Meshlab runs from the DMG as normal, but dragging to Applications causes an error. Now, the main change I made to my OS on upgrading to Sierra was that i formatted my hard disk CASE SENSITIVE. This has broken a few apps and it might have damaged something in Meshlab's plist file. Hopefully it's just a case sensitivity problem in which case it should be an easy fix once we can figure out what...

Many developers can't tell lowercase from uppercase, I'm surprised to see it in the software that runs on linux, though… Anyway, quick fix is to edit Info.plist and change CFBundleExecutable value from MeshLab to meshlab. Probably another option is to rename meshlab to MeshLab, but one I applied the first fix and didn't try the other.
