If directional antennas show as filled sectors, why not put a larger 
diameter circle outline around the filles sector(s) that indicate 
direction, to show presence of an onmi (no additional circle outline if 
there is only an omni, in which case it would just be a filled circle as 
before).

IMHO, I think shanging the intensity might be too subtle..
