Yes, I've looked at the site you mention. I've dropped the idea of
autoconfiscating the SI GLU because it's too entangled with the rest of the SI,
namely the GLU headers are included elsewhere (both in Mesa and the SI) plus
the SI even autogenerates them by means of some other tool.

Oh well, it works just as well without its own configure script.
