update: darn, gears still blue :( . Apparently, replacing 
MESA_FORMAT_ARGB8888 with MESA_FORMAT_ARGB8888_REV in every r128 driver 
source file didn't work (I'll try and see if I need to reboot for 
changes to take place later).

If I went the wrong way there, then please let me know what to do! I 
don't a lot of C++ (I know a little, but my preferred language is 
Python), let alone the Mesa code!
