I still have no success finding the why of the slowdown. While I don't
know how to properly use oprofile, this is the best info I could get
from it:

72.02% of the time is spent inside glibc, on memcpy

depending on opreport paremeters, on the same profiling, I also get:

Does all this memcopying means something to you?
