I installed mesa 5.0.2 on redhat linux 7.3, but it appears to be missing
the file libglut.a. A file the students say they need to make their

You probably need to install the "mesa-devel" package too if you
installed from RedHat .rpm packages or you need to install
"MesaDemos" if you installed from the source .tar.gz archives.

"2.5 Where is the GLUT library?
GLUT (OpenGL Utility Toolkit) is in the separate MesaDemos-x.y.z.tar.gz
file. If you don't already have GLUT installed, you should grab the
MesaDemos package and unpack it before compiling Mesa. "
