I've just committed several bug fixes for lighting problems in Mesa.
First, specular highlights were sometimes in the wrong place.
Second, glMaterial and glColorMaterial updates to the emissive or
ambient coefficients weren't always handled correctly.
I'd appreciate it if people would update their Mesa CVS trees
and test with your apps to make sure things work better (or as
the same, if you didn't have this problem).
