Do you mean GL_EXT_framebuffer_object?

Yes, GL_EXT_framebuffer_object. Does that mean that real time rendering would not be possible with hardware acceleration currently available on DRI? what about texture based rendering?

GL_EXT_framebuffer_object could probably be implemented in any driver
with software fallbacks.
