Hello. Thanks for reply. I have added onReturnPress action to all input fields on a form (it is not nessesary to add this action to button itself). There is sample of my login form code below. This might be useful for community. Please correct my comments if it is wrong. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- class login_listener extends listener { // Framework calls init() method once per session. // All object/properties initialized/created here are // serialized into session data. // function init() { // Use another template for mask instead of default // $this->mask->use_template('alert'); $this->mask->set_title('Login'); // Create message label. // It will show "Incorrect login" message if any. // Set it invisible by default. // $fld =& new LABEL('Message'); $this->mask->add_object($fld); $this->mask->sheet->anchor($fld); $fld->set_style_property('color', 'red'); $fld->set_style_property('border', '1px solid red'); $fld->set_style_property('padding', '4px'); $fld->set_style_property('margin', '0 0 8px 0'); $fld->set_style_property('text-align', 'center'); $fld->set_invisible(); // Simple text string // $cell =& $this->mask->sheet->anchor_text('Please enter your username and password:'); $cell->set_height(20); // Create input text fields UserName and Password. // Add action onReturnPress to both fields and assign OK_Click method // to it. It make possible press ENTER key within fields to emulate // OK button click. // $fld =& new FIELD('UserName'); $fld->set_label('User name); $fld->label->set_width(120); // place input field on sheet $this->mask->sheet->anchor($fld); // to refer to the field by its name: $this->mask->UserName $this->mask->add_object($fld); $fld->add_action('onReturnPress'); $this->intercept($fld, 'onReturnPress', 'OK_Click'); $fld =& new FIELD('UserPasword'); $fld->set_type('password'); // disable encryption to get clear password $fld->set_encryption_type('none'); $fld->set_label('Password'); $fld->label->set_width(120); $this->mask->sheet->anchor($fld); $this->mask->add_object($fld); $fld->add_action('onReturnPress'); $this->intercept($fld, 'onReturnPress', 'OK_Click'); // Create OK button. // The button fires OK_Click method. // $fld =& new BUTTON('OK'); $fld->set_label('OK'); $fld->set_width(40); $cell =& $this->mask->sheet->anchor($fld); // One of the way to change SHEET_CELL attributes $cell->set_property('align', 'center'); $this->intercept($fld, 'onClick', 'OK_Click'); } // Method main() is executed every time when object run. // function main() { $this->mask->display("sheet", $this->mask->sheet); // Here we can refer to input fields due to add_object() above. $this->mask->UserName->set_value(''); $this->mask->UserPasword->set_value(''); } // OK button event handler. // function OK_Click() { // Validate username and password $login_ok = ($this->mask->UserName->get_new_value() === 'test') && ($this->mask->UserPassword->get_new_value() === 'test'); if ($login_ok) { // Login ok - goto next form $this->merlin->open_mask('welcome'); } else { // Login failed - stay with this form and show message to user $this->mask->Message->set_visible(); $this->mask->Message->set_value('Incorrect username or password.'); } } } ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I noticed that method main() of class global_listener is executed every time framework is starting (regardless of session existence). It's good news. Here we have point where we can, for example, to initialize our global variables from $_SESSION array. But I do not found method that is fired when framework is about to end. This method would be useful as main() mentioned above but for saving some globals to session data (or whatever). Valery. > > > 1. Hi, > 1. How to make a button on a form (sheet) to be default (in terms of > Windows) i.e. pressing ENTER in any input field fires this button onClick > event? you can't, but you can do: $button->add_action('onReturnPress'); $this->intercept($button, 'onReturnPress', 'some_method_to_call'); this will call $this->some_method_to_call() on return press > 2. What is the best way to store application global variables in > Merlin? doing this: $this->merlin->my_own_variables = array(); $this->merlin->my_own_variables["blah blah"] = "what you want"; > This variables have to be stored during session and have to be easy > accessible from any portion of application. I know about session handling > in PHP and $_SESSION array. Does Merlin have its own methods to do this? no, but you can store everything in merlin object, anyway you could get properties from other masks using something like this: $this->merlin->masks["mymask"]->listener->my_object passing by merlin you can reach every object in the application > Still lack of samples and docs. we know but actually we can't develop more documentation, help is surely needed. Hello! I have started exploration of Merlinwork and wrote some test applications. I have to make a decision to use Merlin in my development. I have some questions. 1. How to make a button on a form (sheet) to be default (in terms of Windows) i.e. pressing ENTER in any input field fires this button onClick event? 2. What is the best way to store application global variables in Merlin? This variables have to be stored during session and have to be easy accessible from any portion of application. I know about session handling in PHP and $_SESSION array. Does Merlin have its own methods to do this? Still lack of samples and docs. Thanks for advise. Valery. |

Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2609700 By: balliano Thank youfor the compliments! For your problem, are you using 2 different data sources in the sheets? data sources are cached so you should do a db_source->load() to view the changes or (better) you should use the same db_source for the 2 sheets, so the problem would be automatically resolved. Let me know. Cheers Fabrizio ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2608608 By: psychorob First off all I want to say you made a great tool. Keep up the good work! But now my problem: I've created 2 sheets, the first shows a table with some items and the second is a sheet to modify the items or to create a new item. It works, but when I go to the first sheet after I created a new item and I saved this item, the new item won't appear in the table in the first sheet. When I restart the browser it does appear. Does anyone know a solution for this, so he updates the table after I create a new item? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

We profiles session, MerlinWork is extremely complex and we have to store all the data to have a stateful application. You can also think that other technologies such as jsp or application server are really heavy, but that's because of the functionalities that a software has. Because the size of the session, part of session data cut off by the database. That's how the session size caught my attention. I did some tweaking on the db_source class. Maybe I did mess it up. Have you ever done any profiling on the session size. The MERLIN object that persist in session seems to be a pretty "heavy" object. P.S. I am still new to PHP world. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2535574 By: nobody I agree with you. Actually I don't instantiate an object if it is already exist. But the objects reference count keeps raising. I think I should check the db_source class. I have few business objects derived from db_source class. The load method are called on those business object when the page reloaded. Maybe that's why. By the way, I also serialize and de-serialize the MERLIN object before and after saved into the session due to some other issue. I don't think it has anything to do with this. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2533723 By: nobody Yes. I did check the content of session. The session data seems to be mainly body of "MERLIN" object saved in the session variable. And I also count the number of object references stored in MERLIN's objects array. The counter is also easily go up above one hundred. I also noticed all "merlin_object" derived object is referenced by the MERLIN object. I found that after few actions on those pages, the session file size can easily growth to several hundreds K. Is this normal? Thanks. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
