In 37.12, all damage to infantry platoons inside buildings is being applied as though from a single shot, direct fire vehicle weapon (ie reduced according to the building's protection percentage and then further reduced to 1 man). This happens even if the attack comes from another infantry platoon or a burst/cluster weapon (I tried machine guns, pulse lasers and missiles).
If two infantry platoons are occupying the same building hex, they still can't directly fire on each other and have to collapse the building, which inflicts 1 point of damage to both units.
Testing this I think the first part is correct. I placed a Anti-Infantry Unit Second Lyran Armored Infantry Platoon in a Medium Building. I fired an LB10 Slug round at them.
The Damage was as follows:
According to TW pg 172 and the table on TW 215. That 5 points would be divided by 10 for .5 rounded up to 1 killed.
I then tried with Cluster ammo and the damage was as follows:
This too would be correct. The 4 points would be divided by 10 for a .4 which rounds to 0 then the cluster adds 1 men killed.
However testing with two Infantry platoons results in the same hex they are unable to target each other and can only target the building. When According to TW 172 –
If an attacker is inside a building hex and in the same hex as an infantry unit, the attacker may make a weapon attack against the infantry, may fire at the building or may make a direct physical attack against the infantry unit (see Combat Within Buildings, p. 175).
