Building the Ostscout IIC from XTR Boondoggles.
According to the XTR, the Clan Partial Wing weighs 2.0 tons.
TacOps states that the weight of a clan partial wing for a mech is total tonnage/20, so the 35 ton ostscout would have a partial wing weight of 1.75-->2 tons. SSW correctly computes the weight of the wing at 2.0 tons as well.
MM (through the verifier) and MMLab incorrectly have the weight of the partial wing at 2.5 tons.
Also applies to the Cougar-XR.
35 ton mech with clan partial wing
Could you attach the files you are using? If the tech level of the unit is set properly the partial wing weight should be correct. The Cougar-XR in MM has the correct partial wing weight (although it's missing a jump jet in each leg, which I will fix).
these are hand built files, then verified using MML 0.1.24-dev-r1282
and the cougar
The issue is the intro date. The current data for MM has the Clan partial wing intro date as 3071, so the tech level for the partial wing prior to 3071 is Unknown, and the way the code is written, this leads to the IS weight being used.
For now, if the creation year of the unit is 3071 or higher, it works. I'm going to talk to hammer about making sure the intro dates are correct.
I've changed the dates for wings to match the RD start dates.
I didn't even think about tech intro dates. I'll be sure to look out for it in the future, thanks!
It's not that particularly intuitive... The check is something like: is clan? clan weight, else IS weight. The issue is, if you set a date before the introduction date, you get tech level unknown, which isn't a clan tech, so you get the IS weight.
I think it should be something like:
is clan or is IS, whats the weight, oh...the date is wrong...then use first date and clan or IS (whichever fits) weight
Yea, the "(whicever fits) weight" part isn't really as easy as it sounds. It's a nice idea, but it's not really worth implementing.
An easier solution would be to have the verifier inform the user that the unit has unknown tech equipment on it.
Hammer updated the dates for partial wings, so the units mentioned in this ticket should have proper partial wing weights at their official build years.
