I was following the instructions in the FAQ about adding subtitles in a transcoded stream.
It didn't work so well with my PS3. The PS3 does not seem to know what a video/subtitle is.
So I could fool the PS3 by saying that the subtitle file is a mpeg file.
<map from="srt" to="video/mpeg"/>
Then PS3 let me play the srt subtitle files as any regular movie.
The only problem might be when I play mpeg-movies directly.
But I guess they are just transcoded from mpeg to mpeg with some quality loss.
Do you know of a better way to handle this?
The trick with video/subtitle was - you then add a transcoding profile that gets triggered on video/subtitle and transcodes that video to MPEG2, blending in the subs. So the PS3 would/should actually never see the video/subtitle mimetype, but only video/mpeg which is set by the transcoding profile that handles video/subtitle.
So there's something wrong in your config, you probably missed some piece there…
