    hey,
i am trying to run 2 instances of mediatomb on an arch linux server.
why am i doing it? because i want one serving for lan, and another one serving my mobile phone, with transcoded mp3s in lower quality to enable fluent playback over 2g mobile networks like edge.
this is working fine, transcoding and everything ...
but a big issue is with the database. i have to create 2 databases, one for the lan server and one for the wan server. and as soon as i am turning on inotify on both instances, they are behaving strange, removing files, adding them again to the database and so on ...
for now i have both instances running timed scans, but this results in a very high cpu load as soon as they are performing the scans, since the server has only an intel atom cpu.
in my opinion there should be a possibility to access a database with 2 or even more instances. maybe it is possible to manage something with mysql views or something ... any ideas? or it is possible to start one instance with read only on a database?
just to make it clear, i have everything separated, differtent config files, different service files and so on.

maybe someone can give me some input here ...

    kr, lukas

      Hej

what about to make 2 virtualmachine one on each lan and use the same share
      as disk.

    thanks for the answer.
but i think this is a big overhead for a little intel atom ...
now i just let one mediatomb instance scan for changes by mediatomb, and the other one copies the mt_objects table every day. it's a solution i can live with ...
