Has anybody tried to use transcoding profiles to simply restart  MT
server? The idea was to create a new mime type and a transcoding
profile to trigger a script which will then restart the MT service. I tried
that but I don't seem to get a correct syntax with profile's parameters
    The script just doesn't run.

Second question: Is there a way to create a MT container with the sort
order based on the file date or the date of addition to the MT database?
Perhaps a simple hint to the required JS function will be enough...

    Thanks.

For triggering actions - search for ActiveItems in the docs and in the forums, this is what you want. No need to misuse transcoding for this.

Sort order can be different in playlist containers, this is only applicable to containers with a specific playlist class, there the variable playlistorder is used for sorting (at least if I recall correctly). Have a look at the playlist parser script or the scripting docs, it should be there I think.
