I got a MKV file with 2 audio channels in. However, I failed to read the audio bitrate anyway. KMPlayer could do that.

Hopefully it would be added in the future, thx.

I don't find any data about the bitrate in MKV/AAC, so don't expect it until somebody else says me how to do.

I stopped using media info exatcly because of this reason. The only information i needed and that the OSD of ffdshow + properties of MPC couldn´t give me, is the BITRATE of the audio, exatcly the same thing is lacking on mediainfo!!! Whatta shame, really.

If you give me a solution for having this info, I would be happy to integrate it. ffdshow and mpc seems to have the same problem...
Currently, I didn't find a solution without having to parse the whole file (which may be long, too long)

I have the same problem. Created AVC/AAC mp4 file using TMPGENC express 4. mediainfo reads that fine with all the bitrate info for video and audio. After I repack the mp4 into an MKV, mediainfo cannot read the bitrates. I went through a few of MKV files and found that those packed with AC-3 were decoded correctly while those with AAC were not.

Same problem, because of the same reason... my last repsonse is still the same reason...

I also need this. The worst part if that if you have AAC in MKV, you cant see the bitrate of the video also!

I need the video bitrate in toolip for mkv too,
    ok for all other files/archives.
    thanks.

I need the video bitrate in toolip for mkv too,

tooltip is only one of the interface for the engine of the tool. It is automatically added when the feature is added.

      ok for all other files/archives.

No. for all YOUR other files/archives.
Feature is per format and not all formats are supported the same way.

i.e. for mkv the bitrate in NOT available. why?

Please stop spamming, I am aware the bit rate is not present, this is the exact reason this ticket is open.
For the reason, it is because it is not implemented and it is not easy to implement (a bit more info here).
If you want to help and implement the feature, or if you want to sponsor the feature in order to increase its priority, it would be great. In the meanwhile, this ticket is low priority for me (the main developer).

the feature request was not precise enough: support of bit rate for MKV having more than 1 track with variable bit rate.
Your file has 1 VBR track only.

  • anuswara

    anuswara - 2014-11-27

yes, but both files have 1 track only with vbr ;)

Wrong (1st file has AAC, which is never CBR)

therefore I wrote "both VBR" ;)

    Any updates on this?

I use medainfo and ffprobe, and neither can read audio bitrate from MKV's :-/

      Any updates on this?

Still no sponsorship, still no easy solution for this issue, so there is currently no work on it from the MediaInfo core team.
Any patch would be reviewed if someone else is willing to develop it.
