On my Ubuntu 14.04 server JPEGs are recognized as videos and with a much bigger file size using absolute path:
root@fwl14:/home/fwl14/pictures/jpeg# mediainfo /home/fwl14/pictures/jpeg/028.jpg
General
Complete name : /home/fwl14/pictures/jpeg/028.jpg
CompleteName_Last : /home/fwl14/pictures/jpeg/089.jpg
Format : JPEG
File size : 16.0 MiB
Video
Format : JPEG
Width : 1 920 pixels
Height : 1 080 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16:9
Color space : YUV
Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0
Bit depth : 8 bits
Compression mode : Lossy
Stream size : 16.0 MiB (100%)
Same with relative Path:
root@fwl14:/home/fwl14/pictures# mediainfo jpeg/028.jpg
General
Complete name : jpeg/028.jpg
CompleteName_Last : jpeg/089.jpg
Format : JPEG

But recogniced correctly as image without path:
root@fwl14:/home/fwl14/pictures/jpeg# mediainfo 028.jpg
General
Complete name : 028.jpg
Format : JPEG
File size : 289 KiB

Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0

Same with 0.7.72-1 and 0.7.67-1 on Ubuntu 14.04.
Real file size is 295785 bytes
Perhaps it treats the JPEGs as a series of pictures because of their counting numbers in the filename.
