C++/Qt agent release

Release 1.0.0 of the C++/Qt implementation of the reference MDP agent. This uses Qt for cross platform support. Like the Perl implementation, this complies to SMPTE 2032 and the two implementations interoperate.

The agent has been tested on SuSE, Ubuntu, Fedora and Windows Vista.

At the current time the release assumes that installation will be from source. However as part of the installation procedure an RPM or Windows Installer is created, and these will be made available soon.... read more

Reference MDP Agent beta released

The first release of the perl open-source reference MDP agent has now been released.

Some information:

* It is written in Perl, with the usual Artistic/GPL licence.
* It implements a useful subset of the 1.0rc1 MDP/CGI spec
* It supports target pull deliveries using HTTP GET - the initiator offers three variants (to demonstrate negotiation)
It uses the callback approach (polling approach not supported)
* All the MDP/CGI commands are implemented (apart from cmd_sendcapabilities, as the capabilities dialogue uses qry_requestcapabilities and rpl_capabilities)
* It provides direct Perl and SOAP client APIs with a CGI API to come
* It currently comes with a command-line based user interface.
* An optional checksum hash for transfers is provided
* Transfers currently happen in parallel
* Scheduled transfer, limiting the number of simulataneous transfers, CGI user api, web front end, documentation etc. are to come in later versions
* There are a few minor changes from 1.0rc1 spec. Many of the changes are to do with the reason codes.
* It has so far been tested on SuSE 9.2 and 9.3, but should be OK on most platforms, although it will likely require a little modification to work natively on MS Windows (rather than under cygwin).
* It requires: Perl 5.8.x with a few extra modules, plus Apache HTTPD 1/2, Xerces 2.5.0, MySQL
* Installation is quite simple and flexible using an interactive script. Configuration files allow later changes to be easily made
