hold

releases are being put on hold for the time being. we are working to get a system of libraries to make out project roll smoother. this will help with future releases....

for now, cdgroup-1.3 is the only tool availible, but keep an eye open, we are working to make it better, as well as making the other tools....

if you have seg fault's with cdgroup, try redownloading it, for about a day, i uploaded a version with a bug i neglected to fix in a rush to release something.... read more

update

ok for all of you who downloaded and tried compiling the source earlier today, i apologize, in my haste to fix 2 bugs i neglected to check, i forgot a closing } at the end of the show_help_message function. simple fix, just forgot to check it first.

the new source package has been uploaded, i really apologize.

hopefully i'll have 2 new guys who can help me set up CVS and these sorts of fixes can be done ALOT faster.... read more

new member

i'd like to welcome another jason to the development team. finally, someone active willing to participate in this project. leon also has joined the dev. team, but i dont have his SF name to add him yet. he will be helping with coding as well.

hopefully the three of us will be very productive.

we will hopefully have the new cdgroup release posted by this weekend, but i dont want to make any promises. we're also discussing how the next util is going to work out.... read more

apologies

ok, i've been working fairly hard to get this new version working, and i learned a very valuable lesson.

never make drastic changes without checking your work as you go. i've had so many bugs in this new version it's not even funny.

for some reason, when i try to create a logfile, i get some seriously MESSED UP stuff going on. it dumps core all the time, and im failing retrieving the local time. nothing was changed, it just decided not to work.... read more

Working

ok i'm working on addressing the 3 main problems i see with cdgroup, once those have been solved, i can move on to the next tool of the toolkit...

right now im working on the feature to recurse through directories. i added a little bit of stats to the logging.

im also working on picking someone to help me code, i've already found one guy but he is in the process of moving but will be helping me make things roll smoother... a few other people have emailed me about the position, but im working out the kinks....... read more

Looking better

well it looks like i can at least accomplish one thing a night.

tonight i uploaded the current source for the project. i don't much feel the need for a nightly cvs thing, seems kinda pointless on smaller projects.

on the flip side, i started work on the next util as well. im also trying to impliment a really nifty feature in the cdgroup util that will make it handy.

oh, and i guess i can tell you what cdgroup does. it sorts all your mp3's into directories no larger than specified cd sizes. just give the directory and(optional) cd size (in bytes) on the command line and it does the muscle for you. it has 2 flaws that i can think of however. 1) it does not work on subdirectories yet, 2)nor does it sort the files in any particular order. that's due to the way readdir works i believe, but im working to fix that. those fixes will hopefully come with the 1.3 release.... read more

Here we go!

OK, now that I have the sourceforge page working and everything, I can start to publish my works.

First, I am working on setting up the page. Tonight I will be uploading the latest RC for the first tool. it's RC2. This RC is basically close to finish, with a few features to be added shortly.

I am looking for people who will volunteer their time to testing everything I have coded, preferrably on different architectures. if you would like to help, email me.... read more
