  With regards to Michael's patch, it appears that the changes to existing
files were applied, but the new files were never added: libmdb.pc.in and
libmdbsql.pc.in.  I would do it, but I already deleted the patch from my
queue when you said it was applied.
  As for the API stabilizing: The first step is figuring out what the
current API is, i.e. declaring what is public/private.  Of course, you have
already begun this process with your block comments in the code.  As someone
who has waded through my fair share of undocument source code, I applaud
this effort.
