Ok, scratch that last e-mail...got it. It was a permissions problem. Jeff, Thanks for everything...you've been a tremendous help. Got everything all squared away. Turned out it was a combination of the iodbc path and the autotools being outdated. Thanks Jeff...much appreciated. Has anyone had any success using the libmdbodbc with iodbc? Is this even possible to do? By running the script 'autogen.sh'. You pass it the same command-line options you would pass to configure. It creates the configure script and some other needed files, then executes configure with the options you specified. You will need autoconf, automake, and libtool packages installed on your machine. -- Jeff Smith __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Can anyone think of a reason that this lib would not be being built? I am passing the --with-iodbc to the config script. This is the only lib i need out of this whole package and I can't get it to build it. Also, if anyone has another suggestion for a free iodbc driver for ms access i would be very interested. Thank you. -Zach |

Hello. I am trying to migrate a .NET application from .Net framework to mono. Accessing an "MS access" database from mono with OleDB technology implicitly uses GDA (which has an "MS access" support using MDB Tools) (quoting http://www.mono-project.com/OLE_DB <http://www.mono-project.com/OLE_DB> ) Before to make mdbtools running with mono, I want to test mdbtools working with GDA. only. All I want to know is the way of installing the two modules (GDA and MDBTOOLS) to make it work. I install both from RPM's. Thanks for any help. |

Hi, I have compiled the today's CVS version of the mdbtools on a 64bit Linux machine. Unfortunately the following command crashes: mdb-export -I StazioniAutomatiche.mdb Misure =20 Segmentation fault while it works well on a 32bit Linux machine. Both distros are Redhat Enterprise 4 (RHEL4). Hello! If someone interesting in case-insensitive search with mdb-tools, you can apply the patch attached. After this mdb-tools will rely on environment's MDBNCASESEARCH variable, and if it is set, then search will become case-insesitive according to current locale. For mdb's with russian letters folowing command will be OK: $ export MDBNCASESEARCH=1 LC_ALL=ru_RU.CP1251 MDB_ICONV=CP1251 (or LC_ALL=ru_RU.KOI8R MDB_ICONV=KOI8R if you need to output data in KOI8 codepage) -- Dmitry mailto:dm...@rs... |

I've resolved this problem (see patch1 attached). Also I've added support for datetime type in SQL's WHERE (see patch2 attached), unfortunately, it is really slow (every row's datetime field is converted to string and comparing with search parameter as string instead of converting search parameter to double once and comparing it with row's datetime field as double. So, the search parameter should be in 'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS' format. -- Dmitry mailto:dm...@rs... |

I have compiled mbdtools from CVS on 07.11.2005 and have it functioning with unixODBC on Gentoo. I say functioning as isql provided by unixODBC functions correctly with my database. I found pyodb for python and installed it and have it functioning in part. The problem is when I try to fetch a query result, python hangs with no error and 99% CPU utilization. I do not know if this is a problem with pyodb, mdbtools or unixODBC. I was wondering if anyone is using a similar configuration to access a Jet4 database from python. Does anyone know of a better way to do this? I know mxODBC but I am trying to stay away from commercial. |

I could have sworn that the last time i was using a unix odbc layer, i didn't pay anything for it. technically a PITA to use, but it sort of worked. For you to access a remote ODBC source could be the cost part I'm guessing. If its just an access database, put it on a network share I'd say is the only other option if unixodbc is unable to do it freely. Hi! There is a problem with mdb-sql and my mdb file - mdb-sql refers to wrong column while executing sql "select PP_Info from PlatPor where PP_Info like '%q%'". If you look to output below or if you open this mdb file with ms access, you will find that mdb-sql actually compares 'Rec_INN' field, not 'PP_Info' with '%q%'.
