#80 Disable delete file

Lu Mania

Add an option to disable the delete file function and/or to place files in the trash can system (kde or gnome).

I didn't realize "delete file" existed until I dropped my keyboard and deleted the file I was viewing. I know it was bad luck, but would still rather have a way to disable delete so this never happens again. At least if it went to the trash I could recover the file as some I have a rare and can not be replaced. Also, maybe changing the key from {delete} to {shift + delete} would also add another level of protect against accidental deletions. Thanks.

Just wanted to add, great program. Love it and use it all the time.

sorry to hear that. Normally, MComix should have a confirmation dialog that pops up whenever you try to do something irreversible, such as deleting a file. This dialog can be disabled by checking "Don't ask me again" in the dialog whenever it pops up - maybe this happened to you? Try deleting some garbage - if the dialog doesn't pop up, you should be able to get it back by going into the preferences and and clicking on the "Clear dialog choices" button on the lower left.

It likely did. I tested after and it did pop up a confirmation dialog, but somehow it got past that when I dropped it. Must of hit delete then space or return in quick succession.

Still, would like the option to just never allow deletion. I never use the program for that purpose, just reading.

In the next MComix version (that is, the version currently holed up in SVN), you will be able to arbitrarily rebind keys from the preferences window. So, you should be able to disable "Delete" by simply removing its hotkey. I haven't gotten around to fix some annoyances yet, but once I do, the release should be just around the corner(TM).

    Thanks, that'll be great.
