hi mark. i must admit i'm having serious trouble with the type assignments on packet headers. i originally expected standard EtherType assignments, but according to DR1.0 appendix E i was wrong (though i'm sure that's what people originally had in mind). 1. first issue: what is a ``raw 2.14 packet''? i know what a raw _socket_ is, but raw packets? is this meant to support the mcni? then the mcni should have done without user provided packet headers, but rather provide a target addresses as parameters. it is interfering with the protocol stack anyways. 2. encapsulating IP is fine, but how do i now get ARP on wire? through ethernet frames? (nonsensical. that would completely mess up the concepts of encapsulation). confused, daniel -- ___________________________________________________________________________ mailto:st...@in... |
