I have been running JAGS on my laptop from R (using rjags, Emacs, Ubuntu), but
my laptop is not as fast as I would like. A colleague provided an account to a
Mac server which should be faster.
I am wondering how I could run JAGS remotely, while still controlling it with
the Emacs running on my laptop. Do I have to connect to a remote R session, or
can I just call jags via SSH and transmit the data to it somehow? What's the
best way to do this?
I have an admin account on the remote server, so I can set up pretty much
anything that's necessary.
I honestly don't know how you would do it with emacs, but on a remote server
it is best to use batch mode anyway. So transfer the files over using scp and
open a remote shell via ssh to run the script in the background.
