[mcip-list] Patch: cosmetic changes

Hello list,

before creating a new .tar.gz including the previous patch, I want to
add some minor cosmetic changes to the code:
- set GNU C99 
- set compile flag -pedantic
- remove a stray ";"
- be generous for the only bit we have: let it take 8 Bits instead only
  one
