The spawn area is a box which holds players before a match begins. It has a small window which players can use to scope out the surroundings before the match starts. It also has a sign board for the Survival Games plugin.
The arena is where all players are teleported to start the game. It can contain either 12 or 24 spots for players. The players are lifted from their positions simultaneously when the lever in the center is pulled.
The pyramid, or cornucopia, is a collection of chests with items which can help players in the crucial first moments of a game. The worst items are in the chests at the bottom, and the better items in the four top chests. Do you choose to run away, get the items nobody else is trying to take, or do you go straight for the top and hope you get away with something good?
Ruins are crumbling remains which contain hidden dispensers with random loot inside. The loot is randomly selected and sometimes will be good, and other times will be total junk (yay, I got some sticks).
Shafts contain some loot at the bottom which can be taken, however, players must be careful of booby-traps.
Trees can sometimes contain dispensers with loot inside. They can be difficult to find though since they blend in with surrounding trees.
Fortresses come in different styles, but they can all help a player in some way. Some offer a good view point to locate other players. Others provide a place to hide and shoot arrows from.
The enchanting tower could very well be a player's best friend. Using experience orbs which can be collected throughout the map, a player can turn a junky stone sword into a killing machine.
The crafting house is a hut where a player can craft items found in chests into better items. Got two diamonds and a stick? Make this your next destination!
Caves are small cutaways in the terrain which can be home to zombies or stowed-away loot. Make sure you check them out before running right in!
Farms are small plots of land that have some form of food growing on them. If you are desperate for food, one of these could save your life.
Traps can be a player's best dream or worst nightmare. You could get some superior loot and have the upper hand in battle. Or you might just burn and die. Some traps require a button placed on top to activate, others just need a daring volunteer.
The library is a trove of information and books. Anyone who can find and use the information stored here could very well get the ultimate treasure!
The lair is a maze of underground passageways which contain some information needed to open the super loot chest.
The super loot chest is part of the center arena (see image in Arena above) and contains some very valuable items. The information needed to open the chest is scattered about the map.

How come when I generate a map I don't get those tall towers at the pic of Arena? And I also can't find any Underground Lair and Super Loot Chest being generated.
Using ver - 0.85
Edit: Version 0.9 is out and available for download.
Version 0.9 is unreleased and has these features. Sorry, I should have marked it on this page as well. I'm just waiting for Minecraft to update so books are included. If you want to play with the new stuff, my server is running v0.9. Details on the minecraft forums, search "Minecraft Hunger Games Test Server"Last edit: skaterzero807 2012-05-28

Is there a way to just get one map? We can't get the generator going.
There are a few sample maps in the downloads section. What problems are you having with the generator?
I cannot find ANY dispensers in the trees. or libraries. Still searching for those chests in caves. A very nice generator though!
found everything I said above except for dispensers in trees.
They blend in very well and are hard to find, but there is a pine tree that stands out a little bit more and can be found easier in the desert or plains maps.
I can't start the downloaded generator "HGMGS", when I click it nothing happens... And I tried out the batch file, it says it can't find the path..
This looks truly awesome anyways!
Are the batch file and the HGMG.jar file in the same place? You may need to move them together or change the path in the batch file to point to the location of your HGMG.jar
i've got the map generated. how do i start the game/get off the sky platform?
You need a plugin to do the joining and gameplay. Check this one out:
http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/hunger-games-map-generator-serve/
why can't players that aren't op'd not open chests?
That should be a setting in your server permissions. The map generator doesn't have anything to do with permissions or servers, it just makes the map.
