Coin appears to be installed correctly and 'scons configure=yes' has found Coin. 
I have build mca2.4 also on an other system with OpenInventor, but it still remains the same problem.

Well yes,
version 2.4.0 missed the corresponding entries in SConscript.
I will create a new release (2.4.1) with all this missing stuff in it.
