Thank you very much Geert. I had the impression that the module should have worked only with a SIM inserted. I already tested it with a working SIM card and with the modem switched on with mmcli command. The link you provide me has a lot of low level information about the AT commands that I hope to be able to test as soon as possible in order to have a better understanding of why mbm-gpsd cannot find my GPS device. I'll follow-up after some tests. nolith > > >> Thank you a lot, >> nolith >> -- >> Sent with my mu4e >> > > > Groeten > Geert Stappers > |

Hello On an Thinkpad T420 I had mgm.gpsd working for a couple of years, recently under debian wheezy. I know it still worked a week ago as I used xastir which got a GPS fix via mbm-gpsd and gpsd. Now it suddenly stopped working and I can't figure out why. Probably some package or even the kernel that got upgraded on wheezy. I use a kernel with MPTCP patch: Linux krup.woody.ch 3.11.10.wheezymptcp #27 SMP Mon Apr 7 09:05:07 UTC 2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux I pulled the most recend version from GIT, still the same Problem: oot@krup:~/mbm-gpsd# /usr/local/sbin/mbm-gpsd -f -N -v No matching key found No matching key found No matching key found No matching key found No matching key found No matching key found No matching key found No matching key found No matching key found No matching key found ** (mbm-gpsd:13378): WARNING **: No GPS devices found. Exiting. I did what I found on previous list postings: * Reset BIOS to defaults. * Sending at*e2reset to all of the three ACM devices (getting OK reply) * Writing '1' to the rfkill softswitches. (hardware rfkill is off). Still, HAL does not see the gps_ctrl device: root@krup:~/mbm-gpsd# lshal | grep mbm info.capabilities = {'serial', 'mbm_gps_nmea'} (string list) info.capabilities = {'serial', 'mbm_sms'} (string list) info.capabilities = {'net', 'mbm_net'} (string list) info.capabilities = {'serial', 'modem', 'mbm_nm'} (string list) Any more suggestions? I don't know if it's related: I don't use the WWAN device. The SIM card is inactive and has been inactive for the last years, execpt for a 3 months free trial when I got the notebook. I just need the GPS function. -Benoît- |

Hi Jonas: I would be willing to assist with maintaining the mbm Sourceforge site. I have only been involved as a 'hobbyist', but I did work with others associated with this site in developing and testing a updated MBM HAL for Android Jellybean (MBM 4.0.0.0 Beta) on the HP TouchPad 4G (Ericsson F5521gw). My understanding was that this beta version was to be posted on the mbm Sourceforge site up until the project was suspended. I can provide the beta code I worked on and the associated updated notes. Hi all, I have fixed different glib errors and got the code for mbm-gpsd and mbm-gps-control compiling under Xubuntu 13.10 and also added support for Dell DW5560 HSPA+ mini card. From what I understood, the project isn't maintained by the original developers anymore, and patches float around freely without any home. Would it be possible for someone who has commit access to the repo to coordinate fixes like this, even if the activity is low? I think patches will continue to come, but those isolated contributions would be much more valuable if they were collected into one project and community. Regards, Erik |

Hello All, Here at my side I have a USB device 'ID 0bdb:1911 Ericsson Business Mobile Networks BV' from which I want to use just the GPS (without the GSMmodem) At http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/mbm/index.php?title=Using_mbm-gpsd is the text Before setting up the daemon to start automatically, the installation can be tested manually to see if everything work as expected. I assume that it is involved sending AT commands to /dev/ttyACM1, but how to know for sure? ( Please confirm if it is so ) I'm praticular interrested in how to test that the F5521gw GPS is switched on. Groeten Geert Stappers -- > And is there a policy on top-posting vs. bottom-posting? Hi, not sure where to submit this, I have some values to get mbm-gpsd working for the GPS on the Ericsson H5321 that is found in the new Lenovo Edge (E530) ThinkPads. To get it to work I just had to add the id 1926 to the ATTRS{idProduct} line in utils/99-mbm.rules for each Ericsson (0bdb) entry. Also, to get it to build on Debian Wheezy I had to change the following in the Makefile.am file in the policy directory from polkit_policydir = $(datadir)/PolicyKit/policy to polkit_policydir = $(datadir)/polkit-1/policy Thought you might like to add to the source code when you next update, Thanks and regards, Simon Morgan -- SlimJiM Software |

Hi Nilesh. The 3507g does not support 'AT*E2IPCFG' command. This was introduced in the 36 series. Back to your problem. You have to change the RIL not to use AT commands for retrieving the IP address. The module supports DHCP over the USB net-interface. The data connection actually is up and running, as you can see from you RIL log: D/AT ( 1014): AT(12)> AT*ENAP? I/AT ( 1014): AT(12)< *ENAP: 1 I/AT ( 1014): AT(12)< OK The response '*ENAP: 1' means up and running. Your problem is that the AT*E2IPCFG is not supported and the RIL therefor issues 'AT*ENAP=0', terminate the data connection. /BR Carl On Tue, 2012-07-24 at 07:46 +0200, Nilesh chaskar wrote: > Hi development team > > I am using 3507g in android foroyo ROM, module is enabled at kernel > level, cd drivers are loaded and device's are created > in /dev/ttyACM* , dmesg at http://d-h.st/IvD , however my data > connection is not happening either in edge or utms and throwing pdp > errors, logcat radio at http://d-h.st/DuO, i have also tried > manually making data by using AT strings but results are the same, i > am clueless now, can u pls help |

I would not expect much to happen as Ericsson has stopped developing of mbm modules. Using a snapshot or cloning the repository and creating a version yourself is probably required to create packages. -Marius |

I checked your log and I can see that at coming up after the first timeout, a lot of commands have been queued in the module, and they are received by the host at timing "06-11 15:38:15.820". Maybe there might be some some issues with the drivers at this point? At this time, AT*E2RESET command might help to get the system into a better state. Hope you get it working! Regards, Elof |

Hi Elof: Thanks for responding. Signal level bars: Not sure I understand what you would like me to test. INT_MAX is defined as 0x7FFFFFFF. This is the value that was in the original code and caused the signal bars to be solid and not respond to signal strength. RIL_REQUEST_NEIGHBORING_CELL_IDS: Evidently the AT*E2MM command is not supported on the f5521gw. I think ril.h does not actually specify -1, but INT_MAX for invalid value. If you like to test that instead on your platform, the result would be interesting. > 1. Do you know which AT-commands that cause this issue, if not randomly? The AT command to force a reset might not be applicable if the AT-channel/port misbehaves anyway, but if somehow your code got into a state where transmitting AT-commands is successful, but receiving the result is not, then AT*E2RESET command might be useful. MBM Developers: I have compiled a implementation of the MBM HAL 4.0.0 Alpha that works with CyanogenMod9 (CM9) on the HP TouchPad 4G (Ericsson F5521gw). The only modification made was to make the signal level bars work correctly (u300-ril-network.c patch attached). I have noticed two issues and would appreciate any help: 1. The MBM RIL does not process the Andriod telephony REQUEST_GET_NEIGHBORING_CELL_IDS ("FIXME: Unsupported request logged: GET_NEIGHBORING_CELL_IDS"). I presume this would involve issuing the AT*E2EMM command and parsing the results. Do you have any example code for this? 2. Occasionally the radio will stop due to an AT Timeout (static void onATTimeout(void) in u300-ril.c). There is a place holder in the code - /* TODO We may cause a radio reset here. */ Do you have a recommended method to reset the radio at this point? John |
