While we're at it, the first Gestation archive is up now and=20 ready for grabbing. It's just i486 right now (alpha will come=20 soon), and it's located at=20 ftp://skarpsey.dyndns.org/pub/gestation/i486/ . It only=20 contains about 65-70% of the packages present prior to the=20 Gestation shift. The Gestation documents have been updated as well; they now=20 describe the planned layout of the Gestation archive and how to=20 seed and build a Gestation snapshot. The new instructions=20 _should_ be enough to get users started with Gestation; the only=20 known inconsistencies right now are references to a=20 ge...@in... mailing list, and references to a=20 Gestation archive on ftp.inceptionos.org. Obviously neither one=20 of the two can become reality until Terry's back from vacation.=20 ;) Anyone who wants to grab the Gestation archive is welcome to do=20 so. For the purposes of bandwidth conservation (go easy on my=20 connection, and on your time), it's advised that anyone=20 downloading the archive refrain from downloading the "srpms"=20 directory. A properly seeded Gestation environment will grab=20 source RPMs automatically as it needs them. --=20 Kelledin "If a server crashes in a server farm and no one pings it, does=20 it still cost four figures to fix?" |
