It might be kind of odd having a "mirror" serving as our master repository, but it will work until we get our own broadband FTP server available. Only problem I have, is I want to first figure out how to notify PlanetMirror when the master repository changes. It wouldn't be good for skarpsey.dyndns.org to be listed as the master repository forever, even after ftp.inceptionos.org is up. Also, it's probably a good idea to resume discussing on the mailing list. ;) -- Kelledin "If a server crashes in a server farm and no one pings it, does it still cost four figures to fix?" |

Shall we have a short discussion over what we all want from inceptionos.org? > Hmmm...where is this blurb? I must have missed something. During the server outage I took the opportunity to get the bandwidth set to 10mbit - so it should be quicker than before. Let me know if I should mirror PlanetMirorror, or if we'll do it the other way around. > Only problem I have, is I want to first figure out how to notify > PlanetMirror when the master repository changes. See above, If we need an rsync server running I'll add it the list of stuff to set up. > Also, it's probably a good idea to resume discussing on the > mailing list. ;) :) As I said, I've missed previous discussions, but I'll check the archives... -- Terry Churchill : http://www.doc-linux.co.uk/ Power corrupts. Well, mainly, we'll want a web site with news postings (much like we had with GeekLog), an anon-FTP server, and bugzilla. We'll also need to give developers SSH/SFTP access for uploading... That's a good start right there, and with the exception of bugzilla, shouldn't be too hard to set up. We will, of course, need the hardware racked up first, which is what held us up before IIRC. > During the server outage I took the opportunity to get the > bandwidth set to 10mbit - so it should be quicker than before. > Let me know if I should mirror PlanetMirorror, or if we'll do > it the other way around. Cool :) We should probably have ftp.inceptionos.org as the master repository, and have PlanetMirror mirror that. > See above, If we need an rsync server running I'll add it the > list of stuff to set up. I don't believe we'll need an rsync server, and if we don't need it, we definitely shouldn't install it. I've found that a single rsync transfer tends to suck up a lot of CPU. ;) -- Kelledin "If a server crashes in a server farm and no one pings it, does it still cost four figures to fix?" |
