I've managed to build RPM packages of some of the baseline software.  The past week has been a bit of a crash course in RPM, and I'm now daring to hope that I finally got it right ;)

At this point, I need some other people to start testing what I've got so far.  This still isn't quite enough to make a bootable release, but it's enough to chroot and test out a few things.  Once I package enough baseline software to sustain a bootable system, it'll be time to start writing the distribution install script.

What you would need to test what I have:

A 386 or higher, with at least 80MB of free disk space, with Linux >=2.4 and RPM >=4.0 installed.

What I would like to know:

Primarily, I'm concerned about people getting "Illegal instruction" errors.  I'm not 100% certain that everything has compiled for compatiblity with pre-686 CPUs...and every non-critical box I have here is a PPro or higher =/  I would especially like to hear from people with 486's and the like.

At this point, everything necessary to do the pseudo-installation (except, of course, for the requirements I listed above) is tarballed into a single 21MB file.  I'll just need to put that file where people can get it...
