Seeing as we do rather need one, I've posted a rough outline of a project abstract at http://kelledin.tripod.com/maxlinux/abstract.html

Constructive comments are welcome; we all need to review this thing before we put it out.  It's going to be our mission statement, and nobody ever got anywhere without a solid mission statement.

      Problem!

You need to remove "MaximumLinux.org" from the title of the page, as MaximumLinux.org is an already registered domain by former subscribers of Maximum Linux magazine; and is used in rememberence of MaximumLinux.com

We can however use: maxlinux.org, if someone wants to register the domain.

        Has been done.

Btw, I put together a heavily modded 2.4.4 kernel source tree.  At this point, I now need people to test it--especially as I ended up manually shoe-horning some hunks that failed.  The new kernel might be just fine, or it might chew up your FS and spit it out.  I particularly need people to test the quota and knfsd functions on ReiserFS.

I'll post the patch against 2.4.4 a bit later tonight.

The following is mostly a false statement:

"The Maximum Linux Project was initiated by the readers and maintainers of MaximumLinux.org, a site dedicated to replacing and
           commemmorating the popular MaximumLinux.com."

One reader initiated the project, that was me...I know there are a few other readers who are most likely members of this project as well.  We just don't want to make some false statements; remember we are not M$.
