It would be great to have groups in maxlauncher like in Windows Start Menu.

For example, when you have more than 1 program that begins with "F" like Firefox and Filezilla. Then it woult be great to put them both into the "F" button. After pressing "F" it should open a new popup menu where you can choose up to 9 (or more) spaces. You should choose them with the numbers of the keyboard 1-9 (if no group is open 1-9/0 opens the tab of MaxLauncher, when a group is open then it opens the item of the number in the group)

Like: Open MaxLauncher -> F -> 1 (opens Firefox, because it is at the first position)
Open MaxLauncher -> F -> 21 (opens FileZilla, because it is at the second position)

    I use the Group ID field in the button's configuration dialog, where you can assign a label that will open all items that share that same label (such as "Internet", "Work", "A", "B", "1", "2" etc).

    I don't want to open more than one item, i want to choose between some items. But nice to know about the group id function.

    I have made 2 screenshots regarding to this issue.

    One with an additional window and one with a fix window attached to maxlauncher.

    Click on a item in the group should close the group and maxlauncher (like you click at the moment on a single item)

    Another look at the idea...

      This is not a bad idea, but the disadvantage is the positioning of the items if you have no pop-up. And i think it not looks good if you have many groups and at all groups the numbers. I would prefer my ones more. I think regarding to design and function the fix option is the best. But the dynamic would be also okay if it was less effort to program for Madproton

    Yes, you are right. I suppose you had already thought about various formattings, but would a new button strip below the launcher be one of them? Note that we have 10 columns of buttons in ML, and 9 icon positions within a single button in case the idea is implemented. The tenth sub-button in this suggested strip could be to "close" this sub-panel. A panel on the side or overlaped on the launcher doesn't look very clean for me.

      This idea is amazing and better than my ones.

      I have made a screenshot for it. It looks great. But in my screenshot the line for the letter and the close button is a little bit too small. Maybe double hight of my screenshot would be good.

      In the case of this option the 0 would not be in the preview. But i think this is no problem. In 95% 1-9 would be enough. Or like when your maxlauncher is smaller, then you see only 1-6, if it's bigger you see 1-9 and if it is much bigger then you see also 0 in the preview. But it would be great if it is possible to see 1-9 in the preview.

    Additonal to the groups:

    For the groups it would be so much important to have custom keys there.

    For example:
    F4 (my hotkey for launch MaxLauncher) -> F (open group F) -> Key (1-9/0 default, but customizable)

    When you have 2 words or 2 words in one:

    Adobe Acrobat: F4 -> A -> A
    Firefox: F4 -> F -> F
    FileZilla: F4 -> F -> Z

    Or for only one word you use the first 2 letters:

    Desktop: F4 -> D -> E
    Downloads: F4 -> D -> O

    That would be much more intuitiv and easier to learn than the numbers.

    I think this would be double the productivity of MaxLauncher. More than any other new feature.
