#106 Custom keys and more fields

I love MaxLauncher and i am a power user of it.

I have made some feature requests in the past (group feature).

The new description (tooltip) is a feature that i only used 1 time. Have not really a impact for me.

The biggest impact of the last years have the new search feature. It complete skyrocket the efficency using MaxLauncher.

I have made my thoughts what really would improve MaxLauncher (maybe like the search feature).

There are 2 ways (ideas) where i think they could be great:

1. Group feature (think less better than following)

2. I use F1-F10 every day many times. But since the search feature i am 0 times using the other keys.

I group my folders and files logically (what belongs to what). That means they are not at the position where the key match. And many times there are 3 folders / files with the same character (thats why i suggested group feature).

The solution would be custom keys. To exchange the keys by drag and drop (only at the current tab) or on my opinion better to remove all keys and setup only some keys for some of the files / folders (no double keys allowed at one tab). That would also open to add more fields (3x10 is the maximum at the moment). I like to see 4 or 5 rows, and up to 12 fields per row (5x12 = 60 fields per tab in compare to current 30). 12 would be a good number, then the top row could go until F12.

I think that change could have the same skyrocket effect as the search feature.

It could be implemented as a advanced mode that remove the default hotkeys at all tabs and let you set your own ones at any field / position . But maybe this is too complicated to implement.

What thougths the other users have? Or any better idea that would have a big impact to MaxLauncher?

i wish i have more fields per tab too. in "FSL launcher" they are unlimited.
maybe it could be possible with maxlauncher too?
the only problem with fsl launcher is the lack of the search field otherwise i would use it :D

In the last 2 years i have made many feature request with ideas (some maybe very complex to program). I read them all again today.

I always trying to improme my efficency.

The best added feature since i use MaxLauncher is the search.

Since that i only use the F1-F10 hotkeys and 0-9 to select a tab. Never again the other hotkeys of the bottom keyboard area.

Today i would say, forget all my feature requests, only add the group feature or the option to have more fileds (like advanced mode i described in a feature request or maybe if you increase the number of fields the hotkeys of the bottom area will be disabled and F11, F12 added).

Thoughts about my old feature requests:

I don't want store website bookmarks in maxlauncher, because it is not a good idea to have too many places for bookmarks. I can recommend Toby for tabs.

I don't want store programs in max launcher (maybe you can use one tab if you have not so much programs). But i have more than 100 programs (about 30 weekly used in the windows start menu and the other i open via windows search). The group feature also would be here no help, because i don't want a extra click for access a program (for files and folders it is okay).

I don't want to add something automatically (to a specific tab or a inbox). That means i have to sort it later. More efficent is to drag the item, press my hotkey and place it to the correct place.

Other using facts:

At the moment i have 7 used tabs. 3 still free (for me 10 are enough tabs and i am a poweruser).

I never used the "Data" and "Tools" menu entry.

I only use 1 maxlauncher file (in dropbox to use it with computer and notebook).

Own AutoHotkey improvements i use:

Shift+Del: Delete entry under mouse (otherwhise need right click -> delete)

Ctrl+F5: Reload MaxLauncher (need when update something at pc and want to use MaxLauncher at the notebook)

NumpadAdd: Center MaxLauncher

F4: Open MaxLauncher with search activated (i use default search is not activated)
