I have been using the MadAppLauncher.
When I start using MaxLaunder, I have these questions:
1. why there is no Save button (only Save as)
2. the import function does not import any of existing function keys assigned.
3. What is actually different of MadAppLauncher from MaxLaunder?

There is no Save because the file (*.mld) is automatically saved everytime something is changed. BUT you should also BACKUP your favorites.cfg, all your *.mld files, customized themes, and app.cfg regularly. You can find the location of these files under Help->Program Information.
The import function does not import the F-keys, sorry. You just have to re-create them OR ...
a. In MadAppLauncher, you can move the F-buttons to the buttons under a tab and save it.
b. Import the file in MaxLauncher
c. Move the buttons to the F-keys.
Differences....
a. Different codebase.
b. Different Framework. MadAppLauncher was based on WinForms and MaxLauncher is based on WPF.
c. Obviously the name. Some people didn't like the MadAppLauncher being referred to as MAL.
d. MaxLauncher has many improvements in terms of speed and stability.
e. MaxLauncher supports customizeable themes.
f. MaxLauncher has a Search feature.
g. Most, if not all features in MadAppLauncher was implemented in MaxLauncher.
Basically, MaxLauncher is better for modern computers. You can find more information on features and FAQs under the Documentation menu at https://maxlauncher.sourceforge.io/
