    I right-click a used button,
        select copy and
        this Error pops up.
    Copy is successful,
can paste button that is copied.
I cut, get same error, but it only copies, leaving original remaining.
I used Revo-Uninstaller, to uninstall Maxlauncher,
        restarted PC,
reinstalled a fresh copy of Maxlauncher and
get the same Error with my copying a button.

Side-note: Ability to drag and drop button (copy) would be a nice addition.

Do you have a clipboard manager running like Ditto? This error occurs when the clipboard is being accessed by another application while copying or cutting a button.

Cut operation doesn't delete the button because the copy fails. A cut operation does a copy and then delete.

You can hold down the CTRL key before dragging just like in File Explorer.

      Thanks.

I have Ditto (portable), however it is never running, I found another app that works better for me, i.e, I like using CopyQ (Clipboard Manager) and it is never running (rarely used) while I get the said Error.
Startup running are seen in attachment "startup.txt".

This remains a problem, with both portable and install of MaxLauncher, i.e., Button Copy Error pop-up. I find system clean of malware and or virus. I disabled and or exited any and all apps that might interfere with clipboard function.
Am running Windows 7 Ultimate with MaxLauncher 1.7.0.0,

Q: Is there a software update that MaxLauncher might be dependent on?

For now, with your generous input/help I had best do a process of elimination (using a startup manager), disabling all app, see if this MaxLauncher copy error disappears, then introduce back one app at a time to see which might be the problem. Thx, for being there, it helps me think clearly, i.e., as to how to proceed, even without your adding to this discussion, what you have written will suffice. I will write again, of how things turn out, i.e., what the culprit might be.

      Hi,

I have tried to run MaxLauncher on several different computers but I just can't get it to show that error. No other user has reported that error either. I would like to find out what is causing that error if possible before I make any changes. If I suppress that error, copy/paste might not work and then users will just think the program is broken or even useless.

You can try the program below (use at your own risk)... I read it from several websites. It shows what process is locking the clipboard. I personally tried it but I didn't get any errors of course. Scan first before using, just in case.
      Download GetOpenClipboardWindow.zip from here:

      http://windowsxp.mvps.org/temp/GetOpenClipboardWindow.zip

      OR

1.Please try using msconfig. Press Win + R and type msconfig [ENTER]. From the "General" tab, select "Selective startup" and uncheck "Load system services" and "Load startup items". Reboot. Check for error.
2.If the error is gone, do the same thing but this time check Load system services. Reboot and check for error.
3.If the error is gone, then it is a problem with a System service. If not, then the problem is with a Startup item.

That worked! Button Copy Error pop-up is gone, no longer showing, copy, or cut and paste work fine now, thank you once again madproton.
After my using your msconfig checklist, I conclude "the problem is with a Startup item", am not sure which startup item was the culprit, after I (decided which I can live without) was left unchecked.

    Problem Remediated,
    Thx again.
