I'm not sure if this is what you meant... If you get the prompt "Windows protected your PC.. Windows Defender SmarScreen prevented ..." like the attached image, click on [More Info] then [Run Anyway].
If this isnot the problem, please provide more information.
FWIW, I'm still seeing this with every update. Also, Edge doesn't want to download the file in the first place and I need to find the 'keep' option there, too. So now we suffer through this TWICE with every update.
Strangely, I don't see this with other utilities I use from sourceforge, so there must be a way to prevent it. Any ideas?

Try downloading the "<version>setup.zip" . I think that bypasses the Edge annoyance. Then click open the zip file and click on the exe to install.</version>
Unfortunately, to bypass that I have to sign the code with a certificate and those cost quite a bit. I'll check again...
