Save As vs Import?

I'm looking for an easy way to duplicate my MaxLauncher configuration on a different machine. The program I want to launch will all be located in the same place, so I thought it should be pretty straightforward. I found the Import command that imports "MadAppLauncher Documents (*.mal)" and the Save as command, that saves "MaxLauncher Documents (*.mld)" but I have been unable to find anything that OPENS what was saved or EXPORTS what can be imported.

If this perhaps just a lingering typo in the source and both of these should actually be using the same file type? (He asked hopefully.) If so, perhaps it would be better to change "Save as" to "Export" since it would more clearly reflect the purpose of saving to a new file name. Or change "Import" to "Open" (or perhaps "Load"?) just to keep the command symmetry that most people are familiar with.

All that said, is saving a file and then importing it on another machine all it takes to transfer my settings, or is it easier to just copy the %AppData%\MaxLauncher folder from one machine to the next?

      Hi,

The Import is for the old MadAppLauncher. It was and old version of MaxLauncher. Those files had a .mal extension. There is no Import because it is not necessary.

If you want to duplicate your setup on one machine to another, you need to copy/sync just the files.

FYI, You only need the following files:
app.cfg: contains all the configuration set using the menu
      favorites.cfg: contains the F1 buttons
*.mld files: contains all the tab/buttons
Shortcuts directory: if you added UWP(Windows Apps) apps.
Themes directory: if you created any.
**The location of these files can be found under Help -> Program Information.

If you used the basic exe installer:

The files should be located in C:\Users\<user name="">\AppData\Roaming\MaxLauncher</user>
