HI,

what is the correct way to start a maxima server on a
port?
When I try

[localhost:maxima!161] maxima -s 4009
jfa: starting server on port 4009
Maxima encountered a Lisp error:

Error in function EXTENSIONS:CONNECT-TO-INET-SOCKET:
Error connecting socket to [localhost:4009]:
Connection refused

Automatically continuing.
To reenable the Lisp debugger set *debugger-hook* to nil.

same if I try what seems to be the command issued by
xmaxima:

[localhost:maxima!162]
/usr/lib/maxima/5.9.1/binary-cmucl/lisp -quiet -core
/usr/lib/maxima/5.9.1/binary-cmucl/maxima.core -eval "(
user::run )" -- -r ":lisp(start-server 4007)"

It is not a firewall problem since xmaxima works fine.
I am using the latest rpm distribution.

Thank you!

Unfortunately the -s option does not cause Maxima to run as a server.

To run Maxima as a server, there is a share program named maxima-server.lisp, which only works with SBCL.

    Closing this report.
