#23 maximadelta

dan hayes

someone associated with dprodanov put in something called maxima/deltafn.mac

which was some statements. now my question is what can one do with that or how does one use it . It says :

This library implements Diracs's delta function ......

So now my question is does one have to copy all the lines of that code and write it every time or can one make use of it automatically and how does one go about doing that ? And what is the meaning of github which for some reason that name is connected with it - and why does that appear in a different forum than this one ?

Why is there more than one forum - i see no reasons for having all these different confusing forums and different names such as sourceForge, github, tickets, etc. etc. why can't things be made efficient and straightforward by eliminating all these different names and places ? - there should be only ONE forum for maxima NOT sourceforge, github, tickets and all this.

Dan, I'll try to address your questions.

An ordinary user (not a member of the development team) created the delta function package. Github hosts many software projects for free, so he (dprodanov) hosted his project there.

After saving the .mac file to your computer (I forget the name of it) you can load it into your Maxima session by entering load("whatever.mac"); where of course you will substitute the real name for "whatever.mac".

Questions and comments about the package should be addressed to the author via his Github project page. For this reason, I am going to close this request, as the package is not maintained by the Maxima development team.
