Dave, I'm glad to hear that you're making progress on your project.

You mentioned that you're interested in finding collaborators. My
recommendation about that is to create a project on Github.com or
another project hosting site, and post your code there. Lots of open
source projects are developed that way; I think it's an easy and
effective way to advertise the project to potential collaborators and
gather their contributions.
