I J Good, who worked with Turning during WW II, reportedly wrote in an unpublished autobiography that an ultra intelligent machine would lead to the extinction of humans.  Possibly the book Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era (James Barrat) has an excerpt from Good’s unpublished work about this.

Before Cooley and Tukey’s work on the FFT, Good was a co-inventor of a CRT (Chinese remainder theorem) based FFT algorithm.
