Despite the File->New crash, the  wxMaxima 16.12.x for MacOS in your dmg
solves several important problems from 16.04 and overall is an advance for
my purposes.

Even in absence of further developments, I'd like my new class (starting
next monday) of mac-using students to  install Maxima and gnuplot with the
installer at sourceforge, and your new .dmg for wxMaxima.  Is it ok with
you for me to distribute your dmg to them?
This would provide a dozen or more test drivers.
I'd let you know what we find.

And a further step would be to link to the new dmg
 from "My MacOS Installation" at

https://themaximalist.org/about/my-mac-os-installation/

with a disclaimer of lightly-tested, experimental, nightly-build
Is it too soon for that?
