Hey all: I wanted to let everyone know about the existence of the portable Common Lisp library called CL-PERMUTATION that I've been chipping away at for a while now. It allows for computations on permutations and permutation groups. CL-PERMUTATION is located here: https://bitbucket.org/tarballs_are_good/cl-permutation/ and it is licensed as BSD 3-clause, so plenty permissive. GAP is of course the main player in this game, and it's indeed a very good package. However, it isn't so nice or easy to integrate into other software, like Maxima, without introducing complicated or non-portable dependencies. (With that said, it's likely to be more powerful than any one-man effort.) I think CL-PERMUTATION may be good for inclusion as a share package. If someone decides to get started on such a thing, I would be happy to contribute and help maintain the best I can. Regards, Robert Smith |
