I'm using maxima 5.17.1 >Comment By: Raymond Toy (rtoy) Date: 20090707 14:36 Message: Maxima fails because polesininterval cannot determine if there are any poles in the integrand. This is basically a failure of solve (not $solve) to find any roots of sqrt(x)+1. If intanalysis is set to false, then maxima can evaluate this integral and the value is 22*log(2). (intanalysis should probably be documented.) I'm using maxima 5.17.1 >Comment By: Dieter Kaiser (crategus) Date: 20091114 21:43 Message: Documentation for intanalysis has been added to Integration.texi revision 1.45. The integral of this bug report has been added as an example. Maxima does not give a wrong result and is able to solve the integral with the help of the option variable intanalysis. More might be possible, but this would be a feature request. Setting the status to pending and the resolution to "Works for me".
