The maxima behaves like the following:
(%i1) tex(n_0);

$$n__0$$
(%o1) FALSE
(%i2) tex(n_\{0\});

$$n_{0}$$
(%o2) FALSE
(%i3) tex(n_k);

$$n_k$$
(%o3) FALSE

The first result is not correct for the tex syntax,
however "tex(n_k)" is OK for the subscript 'k' is not
a pure number.

    Andrey G. Grozin proposes to commit the patch 1173811 before
    the release: it fixes the bug 1162854 and the more serious
    bug with tex(%C), and adds support for capital greek letters
    in tex(Delta) or similar (case-sensitivity issue!)

    Going ahead and marking fix for 5.9.2 - is this the patch
    needed for better TeXmacs support?
