Problem with terminal in Mac OS X 10.9.1. Maxima does not shows previous commands in terminal by using arrows and shows "^[[A", "^[[D", etc. instead.

Ivan, Maxima is not directly responsible for handling keyboard input. The particular Lisp you are using appears not to be equipped with Readline support (which is responsible for interpreting the Up-Arrow and so on). I would recommend that you try running Maxima in a front-end like Emacs, Xmaxima or wxMaxima. Each of these front-ends will deal with the problem you describe (and will provide a generally nicer user experience). If you wish to use Maxima in a terminal, try running it with rlwrap, which provides the necessary Readline support.
