This may be difficult, but I'll throw the idea out there anyway.

When I am solving simplex, I first solve it in maxima, as it is very easy to specify the problem, and I can use the "distribute" function to rearrange things into LP form etc.

If this gives me the solution I was looking for, I now need to check that this is the only optimal solution. WHat I now do is feed this into LRS (http://cgm.cs.mcgill.ca/~avis/C/lrs.html) to enumeate the verticies. Now I use a python script to calculate the objective function for each vertex. If there is one vertex yielding an optimum objective value, then great! Otherwise back to the drawing board.

The problem is, inputting the problem into LRS is tedious and error prone. I wonder if maxima could tell me if the solution is unique?

For bonus points, could it show me *all* of the optimal solutions?
