I would like to get away from the findbugs version numbering.. tieing our releases to findbugs was a big mistake. The dependencies being wrapped in was because initially it was a pain to get the find bugs jars online... I tried to get the FindBugs dev's to either host a maven repo or post them online, but no luck, and updating every couple weeks was a pain. I'd be fine with getting away from that as the pace of change for FindBugs has slowed down.
